This is NOT meant to be a complete list, but only some frequent examples when massage is not appropriate. If you have any concerns, please contact us so we can discuss further. There is sometimes potential to modify the massage if medical concerns exist.

    1. Intake: Your initial visit will begin with an intake of relevant medical history, your specific needs, and existing concerns.

    2. Privacy: The therapist will leave the room so you can undress based on your level of comfort or preference.

    3. The Room: The room will be quiet, dimly lit, and have music playing. Certain modifications to the environment can be made for comfort if necessary.

    4. Oil or Lotion: Please let us know of any sensitivities or allergies.

    5. Positioning: You may be asked to lie face down or face up, and may be asked to turn over during the massage. Sheets and blankets will be covering areas that aren’t being massaged at all times.

    6. Communication: Please feel free to communicate with us before, during, and after the massage. Communication during the massage is based on client preference, but don’t hesitate to provide feedback on pressure or sensation.

    7. Post-Massage: You will have privacy to redress.

    8. HYDRATE. Massage facilitates circulation and movement of fluids in previously stagnant locations. Hydration is important for filtration, lubrication, and replenishment following tissue manipulation.
